 What is the political philosophy?  


 Political philosophy is a branch of philosophy that is concerned with the concepts and arguments involved in political opinion. It involves the study of fundamental questions about the state, government, politics, liberty, justice, and the enforcement of a legal code by authority. It is an academic discipline that deals with concepts and arguments involved in political opinion. The central issues in political philosophy include: 


• The Nature and Purpose of the State: Why should a state exist, and what is its primary purpose? This includes discussing the role of the state in the lives of individuals.

• Political Authority and Legitimacy: This involves the question of what makes a government or a state legitimate and what rights and obligations citizens have towards their governments.

• Liberty and Freedom: Political philosophy debates the nature and extent of individual freedom, including how much liberty should be sacrificed for security and social order.

• Justice and Equality: One of the core themes is the idea of justice, including discussions on distributive justice (how goods and burdens should be distributed in a society), social justice, and concepts of fairness and equality.

• Democracy and Political Systems: This encompasses discussions about different forms of government, such as democracy, totalitarianism, monarchy, and theocracy, and their merits and drawbacks. 

• Rights and Responsibilities: This includes the exploration of human rights, civil rights, and the responsibilities of citizens within a political system.

• Political Ideologies: Political philosophy examines various political ideologies, like liberalism, conservatism, socialism, communism, anarchism, and fascism, exploring their foundational principles and implications.

• Global Justice and International Relations: This involves the study of political principles at the international level, including the role of states in the global community, human rights, war and peace, and global economic fairness.

• The Role of Ethics in Politics: Political philosophy often intersects with moral philosophy, questioning how ethical principles apply to political and social structures.

• Political Power and Authority: It examines how power is acquired, maintained, and exercised within a political community, and the nature and justification of political authority.



Political philosophy is essential for understanding the ideas and principles that have shaped political institutions and practices throughout history. It provides the tools to critically analyze political ideologies and policies and to envision and advocate for more just and equitable forms of political and social organization.

A short thought on Carl G. Jung and Schopenhauer

Carl Jung may not have been particularly moved by the philosophers within the Western tradition during his study of philosophy. However, he expressed admiration for Schopenhauer, and the reason lies in the latter’s view that the world we live in is one filled with vast suffering. Schopenhauer explained desire and suffering by comparing them to the will of a poet. A poet's poem is created according to their own desire and will, and no one can ask, “Why did you use this expression?” or “Why do you interpret it that way?” expecting a fixed or standardized answer. It is more reasonable to simply acknowledge that the poet's will (or mind) made the creative choice, as it was in accordance with their inner state. In other words, the will forms the basis of creation, and this creative will is constantly tormented. Since there is no eternal satisfaction, it continually craves something more. This makes it dynamic and multifaceted, much like art.
